Hello faithful readers…… Sorry I’ve been gone for so long. I found another blog https://stayheavyalways.wordpress.com/ and it has inspired me to try this again.
So here’s some updates for ya:
I got a new lawnmower last year about this time with help from “Mr Fix it” it’s a Craftsman, and makes mowing MUCH easier now. “Mr Fix It” retired from Sears and I used his discount and with his knowledge of mowers he helped me pick a good one for my needs and with my budget.
I gave up on the treadmill…… Not that I didn’t enjoy it, but it kinda broke and even “Mr Fix It” couldn’t fix it, so it went to the garbage men.
I Lost my job of 13yrs, got a new one in Nov of 2013.
Trying the diet thing still…. Wifey bought me a Ninja Bullet and I have been juicing with fruits & vegetables…. Mostly fruits, and cutting down my portions and drinking only water during the day. I’ve lost about 14 lbs by doing this and my weight is not what it used to be. This past May the wifey bought me a bike, so I have been trying to do that as well.
About the bike for a minute… The day after I got it I rode about 6 miles. I rode it from my house to the boys’ soccer game and back. That little jaunt messed up my back for about a month….. good times.
Let’s see….I’m still smoking cigars and even landed a part time job at a cigar shop (not sure if I mentioned that before). I worked there for 2 years and then moved into another shop, which actually has the biggest humidor in the state. Upgraded to a tower humidor and cooler (or coolidor if you will).
I bought a new car….. not sure if that was brought up before or not, so trying to tell you as much that is rolling off my brain. It’s a 2012 black Scion XB, and I love it!
Favorite Tunes Friday will return I just need to go back and see where I left off. You seemed to enjoy that, and it was fun for me too. Not sure if I will keep that title or not though……..maybe it will be a daily thing? Who knows.
No promises, but I’m going to try and update this blog more since I’m inspired at the moment.
I’m back for the moment anyway…….I’ve been on hiatus and broke my sister in law’s heart as she was my #1 fan (sorry about that kid), but I just have to get something off my chest since I couldn’t sleep last night., just what the hell is up with Saturday Night Live lately? I watched last nights episode with Kevin Hart as the host. I don’t have anything against Kevin Hart, I don’t love him like the internet does, but I don’t hate him either. I have enjoyed some of his work, so I don’t blame his performance he was doing the best with what he had I believe.
Now a bit about how much of a fan I am. I started watching SNL in 1975 when it debuted. I would stay up with my parents and watch this “groundbreaking” show. I was only six years old, so the jokes went way past my head with the sexual innuendos and drug references, but I enjoyed the live aspect of it the danger, and risks they took.
I even watched the 80’s seasons that everyone said was the death of SNL with the cast of Anthony Michael Hall, Robert Downey Jr, Julia Louise Dreyfess, Jeanene Garafalo and Rich Hall…..I’m not trying to include the entire seasons casts, but you get my point. I watched them and although they weren’t the risk takers that the previous decade was I still found it watchable and enjoyable.
Then the 90’s came and gave us the rebirth of SNL, and man what a decade that was with such talented performers like Will Ferrel, Tina Fey, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, the late great Phil Hartman (I still kinda get choke up when I see old episodes with him in them…..so sad), Darrell Hammond (to quote my best friend “Our generation’s Rich Little”), and so on.
So, with SNL’s history of up and downs, who is to blame for these past few seasons? The performers? Maybe…the Writers? DEFINITELY! (this is my opinion, so if you disagree tough). I just did a search for the head writers on SNL and here is what http://snl.wikia.com/wiki/Head_writer lists:
- Season 1: Michael O’Donoghue and Lorne Michaels
- Seasons 2-3: Michael O’Donoghue
- Seasons 4-5: Herb Sargent
- Early season 6: Mason Williams
- Mid-season 6: Jeremy Stevens and Tom Moore
- Season 6 ep. 13: Michael O’Donoghue
- Season 7 first half: Michael O’Donoghue
- Season 7 second half: Bob Tischler
- Season 8: Bob Tischler
- Season 9: Andrew Smith
- Season 10: Bob Tischler
- Seasons 11-19: Jim Downey
- Season 20: Jim Downey and Fred Wolf
- Season 21: Fred Wolf and Steve Higgins
- Season 22: Steve Higgins and Adam McKay
- Seasons 23-24: Adam McKay
- Season 25: Tina Fey
- Seasons 26-29: Tina Fey and Dennis McNicholas
- Season 30: Tina Fey and Andrew Steele
- Season 31: Tina Fey, Andrew Steele, and Seth Meyers
- Seasons 32-33: Andrew Steele, Seth Meyers, and Paula Pell
- Seasons 34-37: Seth Meyers
- Season 38: Seth Meyers and Colin Jost
- Season 39: Colin Jost, Rob Klein, and Seth Meyers (eps. 1-13)/Bryan Tucker (eps. 14-21)
- Season 40: Colin Jost, Rob Klein, and Bryan Tucker
So, let’s take a look at that list for a minute……..Tina Fey was the head writer for Season 25, and was a writer for six years altogether. Those six years were EPIC and really helped with SNL’s popularity with a new generation. Go back and look at those seasons you will see what I am talking about.
Last nights episode may have been a breaking point for me. it was SO bad…….I have a Saturday night ritual where I will watch the show and me and my best friend will text each other during the show with what was good, bad or atrocious….well last night it was all atrocious. I feel bad for the hosts sometimes that have to do these sketches…..sure the audience laughs like they are supposed to, but I promise you they are just abiding by that “Applause or Laugh” sign that is continuously flashing.
So, this is Lorne’s and SNL’s 40th year….that’s a nice career right? Maybe its time to pack it up??? I am not a writer, nor an expert on what makes people laugh, or on television, but I know what isn’t working & this is not working anymore.
Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live
Told by the stars, writers, & guests in their own words about working on SNL. One host that really stands out to me is Tom Hanks who has hosted SNL eight times says when he is on he will sit down and write with the writers, and not just a 9-5 time frame. He says they will order Chinese take out, and not leave until the job/jokes are perfect. If that means they are up till 5am on Saturday, and they have to be live that night so be it.
Where is the dedication with this past cast? Chevy, Murray, Beliushi, and that whole cast had to write their own jokes/sketches same with Tina, Will, Amy and so on……I don’t know for a fact, and if I’m wrong PLEASE correct me, but do any other the cast members other than Colin Jost write their own material anymore? I just don’t see it.
I don’t know, maybe I’m getting finicky in my old are, or I am just getting too hard to entertain.

Well it has been a couple of weeks…..maybe longer since I have updated this topic on my blog, due to the revamping of the site, which took longer than expected…..so without further ado I will try to go by memory.
Sunday the 4th of Dec when the wifey went to church. I had a Partagas 10….. since the weather was nice a very good smoke 5 out of 5, haven’t had a bad Partagas yet.
I also decided to try a CAO Earth Nectar this was a flavored cigar, that wasn’t great and wasn’t bad…….would not buy another, but if someone gave me one I would smoke it. so a 3 out 5
On the 5th of Dec I received a very nice, thoughtful bomb from someone on http://www.cigarasylum.com I won’t go into the details, because that’s a whole nother blog that I don’t want to get into right now, here are the sticks:

On Tuesday the 6th I smoked my 2nd worst smoke (1st was the Gurkha European Selection) this one was the MAN O’ WAR Virtue, I actually pitched this after the 1st third…0 out of 5, will NOT smoke again.
On the 7th I received another bomb from a member of the CA this time was because I posted an “empty” pic of the TRUNKADOR….I don’t think so, but he felt obligated to bomb me anyway.

- Nica Libre 1990 Churchill Boxpress

That night I had a Cohiba ‘Red Dot’ this was my 2nd one I had ever had, and this one was 10x’s better than the 1st a def 5 out 5.
Saturday the 10th my mother threw a Christmas part and I took some smokes with me, 1st up is a no name brand….a member of CA decided to start rolling his own and he named it after his dog “Roxy” he graciously sent me one of his Maduro to try.
This cigar has the best smell of any cigar I have ever smelt and this was without even lighting it, just amazing and it smoked just as well. A def 5 out of 5
Next I had a Tatuaje……um sorry I forget which one, and my notes aren’t helping, but once again I have not had a bad Tat 5 out of 5
Next was the smoke of the night Liga Privada Undercrown, this was not from the one that was just bombed to me, this was one I won from KissMyAshRadio.com back in Oct. 5 out of 5
That bottle behind it? Yeah that’s what I paired it with….DELICIOUS!

On Tuesdaythe 13th Marlon came over to my house and brought me a very nice stick…….a Davidoff Double R….now these are about $31 a stick…..def worth it, but I just can’t see myself buying a box anytime soon….too much, but still a 5 out of 5
Friday was our usual Herf at Marlon’s house he had some boxes come in this week and couldn’t wait to share some with me and Alan, so I just brought some cheap smokes with me, nothing special hell I didn’t even get to them. He gave me a Liga Privada Undercrown (because I had been raving about the one I smoked at my mom’s party he bought a box)
And one that’s quickly becoming a fav of mine Nat Sherman, this one was the Suave and yep 5 out of 5
Saturday I had some Christmas shopping and I stopped at the local B&M to buy for my Secret Santa on CA and Marlon met me up there, I bought a Macanudo 1968 & a Saint Louis Rey
Marlon also bought a Macanudo 1968 and we both smoked it, we both thought it was boring smoke a 3 out of 5
Afterwards Marlon handed me one he just bought (he bought 2 of these) a 601 Green Label MUCH MUCH better 5 out of 5 I am loving these 601’s.
Now a little something extra for you my readers, when Marlon came over I showed him my Trunkador set up and he said I should empty out my humidors and jut put my sticks in there by themselves…..so here ya go.
Ignore the temps, I had it open for awhile so the temp dropped, but all is good sitting at 72%!
This is my 1st Photo Challenge and I thought this was appropriate…..last night I went to my mom’s annual Christmas/Bunco party…..don’t know what Bunco is? Google it, I don’t have time, sorry….but it’s a lot of fun.
Anyway, after after 3 games of Bunco we all decided to do shots and party it up, here is my thought of Celebration for this topic.
Notice the Margaretta’s behind her lol.
Hello faithful readers, THIS WAS A BITCH!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to go with a new photo theme (AUTO FOCUS), and that ended up sucking, and frustrating the hell out of me, so I went back to the drawing board and came up with something that I really like.
Maybe I should have waited to unveil this after the new years, oh well that’s not me, I am spontaneous…hope you dig, if not then “I pity the foo.”
